Episode 119 ~The Powerful Truth To Learn About Listening with Amy Carroll

November 10, 2020

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you lost out on something you could have gained by simply listening?ย

Have you been “listening” to someone, yet working on your โ€˜to doโ€™ list in your head?

When my son Charlie was young and he wanted to tell me something important, he would start with, โ€œMom, I want to tell you something, but I don’t want you to say โ€˜Uh-huh,โ€™ ok!โ€

Charlie wanted to be heard: for me to stop and really listen to him.

I can relate โ€“ I love it when someone really listens to me instead of only waiting for me to take a breath so they can insert their own opinion.

It certainly is hurtful to share a thought or concern and only get a “Uh-huh.” in response.

Being able to not only listen to but to hear someone is a gift that takes lots of intentional practice.

My friend Amy Carroll ย learned that when she shares an unsolicited opinion, it can actually block Godโ€™s revelation. This week, Amy is going to give us four lessons on how to listen so that we can use our voice with a tender heart.

  3. ๐™๐™Š๐˜พ๐™๐™Ž ๐™”๐™Š๐™๐™ ๐™๐™ƒ๐™Š๐™๐™‚๐™ƒ๐™๐™Ž

Each one of these four lessons gave me such great insight into my own listening habits. Sometimes I donโ€™t ask questions because I believe I know what they will say.ย
